Fans save Lucifer

FOX, as it has done with many great shows over the years, pulled the plug on Lucifer just as season 3 was ending. Fans, of course, were not happy.

They started a campaign on Twitter, tweeting #SaveLucifer and #PickUpLucifer.

It worked, and last Friday the news broke out that Netflix has picked up the series!

Nothing has been confirmed on the release day though, but writers are already working on the new episodes and production starts already in August.

It was confirmed that Netflix ordered 10 episodes so far and according to showrunner Joe Henderson, the reason for Netflix picking up the show is that they loved the fan reaction.

“They really noticed it. The fans were heard, and that’s the biggest thing that we should convey. They saw the passion of the fans, and apparently a number of people over there just like the show,” he stated.

His co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich said:  “With social media, the fans now can make a difference, and that is the coolest part of this whole experience. They really feel ownership, like, ‘Hey, we got our show back,’ and I love that.”

The cast expressed their gratitude to fans on their social accounts.

“BEYOND GRATEFUL to be part of a company like @netflix Also a huge thank you to all #Lucifer fans who poured their hearts out, tweeted, screamed, cried & showed us they wanted it….and wanted it bad. Thank you #Netflix for snatching us up, we love you already,” wrote Lauren German (Detective Decker) on Instagram.

Kevin Alejandro (Dan) thanked fans on Twitter and Instagram.

Lesley-Ann Brandt (Maze) tweeted:

“You fans are incredible. You did this. We are so happy to keep the family together. Lucifer on Netflix is back. Has a ring to it I say. Thank you @netflix and Thank you to each and everyone of you who fought like a demon!”

“Holly shit, you guys did it!” was Aimee Garcia’s (Ella) reaction:

Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, the main star of the show, thanked the fans with a song on Instagram:

He does have a great voice and we’re looking forward to see more of “The Dark Lord’s” shenanigans in season 4.
